Dr. James Bonick is a periodontist who practices in Merrillville, IN. He grew up in Northwest Indiana, and has had a practice in the area for the past 18 years. He has lived on the north side of Chicago for most of that time, but moved to Crown Point three years ago to become an active member of the community he serves.
Dr. Bonick graduated from St. Joseph’s College in 1965 with a major in biochemistry. He went on to the Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago, from which he graduated in 1969. He did his dental residency at Rush/Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital, then went on to become the Director of General Dentistry Residency at Rush, helping to guide new dentists as they began their own careers.
After Rush, Dr. Bonick began a diverse career in dentistry, going overseas to be the Head of Dental Services for the Ministry of Defense in Saudi Arabia. After three years of being in the Middle East serving as the dentist for Saudi Royal Family, Dr. Bonick came back to the Chicago area. He became a full time faculty member at Northwestern University, while earning his specialty in periodontics.
In his periodontal practice, Dr. Bonick has employed the most up-to-date treatment modalities in order to give the best care possible to his patients. He has completed extensive training in many areas, including laser therapy and implants. He is an accredited speaker for the Academy of General Dentistry, and an active member in the Northwest Indiana Dental Society. Dr. Bonick gives lectures throughout the region on implant therapy, lasers, and periodontal therapy. He is always on the leading edge of research and development of new materials and treatment procedures. His strong commitment to providing the highest quality of care, along with developing sound educational programs for dental professionals in the area is what drives him to excellence. His gentle approach and excellent clinical skills will make you more comfortable and relaxed than you thought possible.
Dr. Bonick has two sons, ages 20 and 21, who are currently attending Depaul University and the University of Illinois, respectively.
